Story Feast, Edinburgh, Scotland
A Highland Feast at the Iconic Greyfriars Kirk, Inspired by the World of Outlander
Saturday, 24 April 2027 Greyfriars Kirk, Candlemakers’ Row, Old Town, Edinburgh
Saturday, April 24th, 2027 | 6:00 PM | Edinburgh, Scotland
THE EVENING
Greyfriars Kirk opened in 1620 as the first church built in Edinburgh after the Reformation, on land granted by Mary, Queen of Scots. The kirkyard has been receiving burials since the late 1500s and one of its border walls is the original wall of Edinburgh. In 1638, the National Covenant was signed inside the kirk. Four centuries later, the nave still stands as it was built: stone, timber, & tall windows overlooking the Old Town.
On the evening of 24 April 2027, a single long table will run the full length of that nave, set for a Highland feast in the spirit of Outlander.
This is Story Feast Edinburgh, the opening night of the 2027 UK and Ireland season and the first event of Story Feast Collective's new chapter in Scotland. The evening is built around a five-course menu drawn from the wild larder of the Highlands, created for the table by an award-winning chef whose career includes Michelin-starred kitchens, training at The Fat Duck, and the position of head chef of the Britain’s Llewelyn’s. Handcrafted ceramic serviceware is being made exclusively for the evening, course by course, so that the table reads as a moving exhibition by the time service ends. Scottish music evoking the mystery and magic of the Highlands will play throughout the evening. The flowers and foliage draw from the Highland landscape and the table will be set with an abundance of candlelight from end to end.
Guests arrive to a welcome cocktail and a themed small-group tour of the kirkyard led by the Greyfriars historian and team. The kirkyard is dense with story. J.K. Rowling drew character names directly from these gravestones while writing the early Harry Potter books. Over the kirkyard wall, the turrets of George Heriot's School (founded 1628) are visible from the grounds, widely cited as the visual inspiration for Hogwarts. Greyfriars Bobby, the Skye Terrier said to have guarded his master's grave for fourteen years, is buried here. His statue stands at the gate on Candlemaker Row.
The evening itself is not a costume party and not a film tie-in. It is a sensory feast that draws on the storytelling traditions and the long-table generosity of the Highlands. Guests are warmly invited (never required) to dress as the Highlands and the world of Outlander inspire them. The atmosphere is candlelit, festive, and ceremonial. One long table. One night. One unforgettable feast.

THE STORY FEAST EXPERIENCE
Story Feast is not a restaurant. It's not a pop-up. It's not a food festival.
It's a gathering rooted in place, built around a long communal table, and designed to remind you what it feels like to share a meal in a warm and welcoming environment.
We produce experiential dinners in extraordinary spaces around the world: monasteries, castles, art museums, and hidden venues with stories to tell. Each dinner is built from the ground up with a celebrated local chef, hyper-local ingredients, handmade serviceware, local makers and producers, and a deep respect for the place that hosts us.
Every detail of the evening is intentional. Nothing that doesn’t feel authentic. Just extraordinary food, an extraordinary setting, and the company of people who believe meals are better when shared together.
